Welcome to the beginning of yet another month.
More significant is the fact that half of the year is now officially spent. The last 181 days of the year was filled with more than enough action, ranging from winners in various football leagues, two Grand Slam events, F1, the NBA Finals among others.
As you look forward to the next 184 days of the year, there’s plenty more action to look out for – and make money from. Here are some sporting events you can look forward to this month:
FIFA World Cup final
The mundial has seen so many surprising results, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo getting knocked out of the competition in the round of 16. Of course there are the bookies’ favorites but no one knows for sure where this tournament is headed. It’s too weird a World Cup to be sure of the two teams that will feature in the final.
Two Grand Slam events
Every calendar year features four Grand Slam events. With two of them already gone (Australian Open and French Open), the next six months will feature the remaining two: Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
First up is Wimbledon, in which big names like Roger Federer and Serena Williams, and co., will be competing for the trophy.
Starting this month, preparations for the new football season in Europe will begin, with club sides taking on each other in friendly games.
Different clubs will go on different world tours and a fair number of football games will be played.
What was thought to have become a three-way race for the drivers’ title has returned to what it used to be: a two-way horse race between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. The first half of the year witnessed eight races.
That means that the remaining half will feature the remaining 13 races in the 2018 F1 season, including the Italian Grand Prix and the grand finale in Abu Dhabi.
In the latter stages of the year, basketball will return to courts across America (and some parts of Canada).
The Golden State Warriors will start out again in a bid to win another championship ring. Other franchises would have had time enough to put together a team that will rattle the star-studded side led by Steve Kerr.
UEFA Champions League
The 2018/2019 UCL season will resume in September.
Real Madrid, the reigning champions, will be looking to defend their title – again. The English sides will be looking to go one better than last season by winning the trophy. The rest of Europe will also be getting ready to put up a fight for the title.
