Champions League football is not the only one that will be on display this week. Among the many other leagues where football action will be played, the English Championship is one of them.
The second tier of English club football has started on an exciting note. A testament to this is the fact that there has only been one goalless draw in the last four rounds of games played.
That’s one game without a goal in the last 48 games.
Announced before the season began, the 2020/2021 edition of the English Championship will see more mid-week games played than ever before. And this is just one of those weeks.

For a number of reasons, the game between Sheffield Wednesday and Bournemouth is one game to look out for this week.
The home side, forced to start the season with a 12-point deduction, are trying to fight their way out of relegation waters. On the other hand, Bournemouth remain unbeaten this season, after nine games played. They have now successfully maneuvered one-fifth of the league without suffering a loss.
No team has managed to score an average of two goals per game in the Championship this season. The closest any side has come so far is 17 in nine games, managed by the table-toppers, Reading. In their next game, they host Preston North End, a side they have defeated in their last five meetings.

Sides may be struggling to score a multitude of goals this season. But that’s not the only struggle in the league. For some of the sides at the bottom of the table, they are struggling defensively. Take Coventry for example.
With just two wins in their last nine, they have only managed to score nine goals. In their five losses this season, they have conceded 13 goals. Add that to the other five they conceded and you have a side that has let in an average of two goals per game so far this season. Up next for them is Nottingham Forest.
In total contrast, Swansea and Middlesbrough have been enjoying the benefits of having a solid defense. It’s no wonder that they have climbed up so high on the table.
This week, the Swans take on Brentford in a repeat of the Championship Playoff semi-final played a few months ago. For Boro, they face Blackburn Rovers.
