Six months after, intercontinental football has resumed in Asia. The premier club football competition in the continent will now see teams continue a journey that they started at the beginning of the year.

But the continuation of this competition has been followed by a lot of tough decisions and even the cancellation of other football events in the region. There has also been a twist to how the tournament will continue after its resumption.

Split into two zones now, football has now only resumed in the Western zone, with clubs from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan playing their games in Qatar. For teams in the Eastern zone, they have to wait until November 15 before the start their own AFC Champions League competition. This is because of tightening travel restrictions in the region.

There are only a few games left to be played in the group stages of the Western zone. So, what teams should you be on the look out for this week?

One of the sides to look to are the ones in the Qatar Stars League. Asides having played a couple of league games, bolstering their match fitness, they will also be playing on home soil.

One of such teams is Al Duhail. Since the tournament resumed, they have won just one of their two games played so far. Will the wins have not been consistent, goal have been flowing. Their last two games ended with at least three goals scored.

Another side is Al-Sadd, featuring the likes of former Arsenal player, Santi Carzola and manager, Xavi. Second on the table, they’re unbeaten in the AFC Champions League this season.

They have also started their new season with three wins, one in the QSL Cup and scored 10 goals in their first two league games.

Al-Sadd will play against table-toppers, Al-Nassr.

Persepolis, Sepahan, and Esteghlal Tehran are the three Iranians sides that will be playing this week.

Persepolis have lost just one of the four AFC Champions League games they’ve played this season. But Esteghlal have not won any of the two they have played this season. Sepahan have lost three of their last five games.

The games all three sides have played in the competition have seen an average of two goals scored in each.
