UCL

Non-stop club action that started last weekend continues this week, with UEFA Champions League football and Europa League action.

And as we get ready for MatchDay 5 of the UCL group stages, there are quite a number of questions still unanswered including,

Which Team Will Qualify?

The race for qualification has been tougher in some groups than in other ones. In Group B, only one slot remains as Barcelona has secured their qualification. But it’s pretty much tighter in other groups, like Group C.

Liverpool (6 points), Napoli (6 points) and PSG (5 points) are all still in contention to qualify out of the group. And this next MatchDay will determine, to a large extent, which team will go through. While Napoli hosts FK Crvena zvezda, PSG welcomes Liverpool to Paris.

It’s arguably one of the games of the MatchDay. The first leg ended in a five-goal thriller and this match-up is expected to feature a goalfest.

Also in Group H, Juventus (9 points), Manchester United (7 points) and Valencia (5 points) are all in contention to qualify. Which of these teams will increase their chances of qualifying this week?

And the Game of the Week is?

This week, the UCL will feature a number of heavyweight clashes. There’s so much that it’s hard to pick out which one is the game of the week. Some of the clashes include:

  • Tottenham vs. Inter: Both sides will be trying to avoid playing Europa League football. With Barcelona already qualified, it remains to be seen which of these two teams will join the Catalan giants in the knockout stages
Inter Milan had to score two goals in the second half to win this game.

  • As Roma vs. Real Madrid: Despite losing 3-0 to Eibar over the weekend, Real Madrid remains a formidable opposition for the Italians to conquer. This game is a straight battle for who will top Group G
  • Lyon vs. Manchester City: The French side is the only side that has defeated Manchester City this season. And Pep Guardiola will be looking out for them as he keeps another eye on qualification

  • FC Porto vs. Schalke: Another battle-for-the-top-spot-in-the-group clash. Porto will be looking to add more to their 10 points. Schalke, with a win, can leapfrog the Portuguese into top spot

Which Teams Will Win?

32 teams will be featuring in 16 games this week. Which of these teams will win their games? Will home advantage play a major role or will there be surprise wins by the away teams? What do you think?
