Have you noticed something about the 2020/2021 season of the Premier League? Every MatchDay seems to have one (or more) blockbuster game to be played.
From Liverpool taking on Leeds, Chelsea versus Liverpool, Liverpool up against Arsenal, Manchester United tackling Spurs, and the Merseyside derby, it’s been endless action across England. And it’s set to continue this weekend.
Although the game between Manchester United and Chelsea is the clash of the weekend, there are still some other games to look out for in the league. And the one between Arsenal and Leicester is one of them.
The Foxes were riding high at the beginning of the season. In their first three games of the season, they scored 12 goals and conceded four times. In the two league games after that winning run, they conceded four unreplied goals. It’s been a topsy-turvy run for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

For Arsenal, they’re sixth on the log. And just like Leicester, they have won three games and lost two in their opening five of the season. Although the Gunners have a similar number of points with the Foxes, they have scored four less and conceded two less than the Foxes.
Arsenal have only kept a clean sheet in one of their last five Premier League games. With their last league game being a loss to Manchester City, the Gunners will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in this contest.
It is not the first time both sides are clashing this season.
In the recent run of EFL Cup games, the Gunners and the Foxes locked horns. Arsenal was the only team that scored in that game.

In the last seven meetings between both sides, at least two goals have been scored in each game. Arsenal have struggled against this particular opponent in the league in recent years. The Gunners have not defeated the Foxes since 2018. In that period, both sides faced off three times, and Leicester scored six times, as against Arsenal’s lone goal.
Oh, that run of games also saw two red cards. That’s two red cards in the last three meetings between these two sides.

Both sides hope to feature in the UEFA Champions League this season. And to do that, it is games like this that must be won. As direct rivals for an European spot, there can’t be any letting up in this clash. Although it’s still early days in the league, this one is already a must-win for both sides.
