Australia Ice Hockey: Expecting Any Changes in The Top Four?

The Australia Ice hockey League has been on for a while now.

It started in April and would be rounding up in August, after which Goodall Cup playoffs will be played.

At the moment, CBR Brave sit at the number one spot on the table with 33 points.

This is also the same with Newcastle Northstars. They also have 33 points but have scored fewer goals than Brave, so they sit second on the table.

Melbourne Mustangs comes third with 18 points followed by Sydney Bears with 17 points.

The gap between these teams is very narrow, and their spots on the list are not certain. In the next few weeks, we should be expecting changes in the ranking.

But the question is: Are you expecting any changes in the top four? If yes, what teams will be moving up the list and which teams will be dropping down?

Let’s take a look at how these teams have performed this season.

  1. CBR Brave

As I mentioned earlier, they sit at the no one spot on the table.

Their performance this season has been incredible. So far, they have played 12 games and won 11 of them.

This is way more than most teams can brag off this season.

Though they have the same points with Newcastle Northstars, they still sit top of the table because they have scored more goals than any team this season.

They have scored a total of 68 goals and conceded 27.

CBR Brave will be going against Sydney Bears, a team that lost three of their last five matches.

  1. Newcastle Northstars

The Northstars have also done incredibly well this season.

The only difference between them and Brave is that they scored fewer goals. They also have 33 points and have won 11 games out of the total 12 games.

Truthfully, the Braves cannot breathe with relief just yet because if they make any slight mistake, they might slip down to the second position in an instant.

The Northstars have scored 63 goals so far and conceded 30.

Tomorrow, Newcastle will go against Perth, team seven on the list.

  1. Melbourne Mustangs

Melbourne Mustangs have done fairly well this season.

Out of the 11 games played, they won five of them.

Looking at their recent performance, they have won two out of their last five games. They have to make sure that they bring their A game to the field if they want to maintain that spot.

Though the Mustangs are considerably behind the Northstars, this doesn’t mean that they can’t catch up and even overtake them.

  1. Sydney Bears

They sit on the fourth at the moment even though they are just a point behind the Melbourne Mustangs.

There is every possibility that we might see them moving up the ladder soon.

They have also won five of the 11 games they have played. The margin is quite slim between them and the Mustangs.

Their performances in their next games will decide if they truly can move up the list.

These are the top four team at the moment.

Now over to you…

Do you think we should be expecting a change in the ranking? Can these teams maintain their positions?

Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
