Europe's top five leagues

When the top sides play football again this weekend, it’d almost seem as if they never left the stage.

This week alone featured some of European football’s heavyweights in action. And the action continues non-stop for them as they’ll be heavily involved in one act or the other this weekend.

From cup games to the chase for the title, here are some games to look out for this weekend:

  1. Manchester United vs. Liverpool

If you have not been living under a rock, chances are that you already know the latest news about Liverpool. For the first time in 21 years, Liverpool have failed to score a goal in four consecutive games. Their loss at home to Burnley was their first home loss in the league in 69 games.

Liverpool have not lost to Manchester United in their last six meetings.

With the Reds scoring just five goals in their last six games – four against Aston Villa in the FA Cup Third Round – they will have their work cut out for them against Manchester United.

Brentford taking on Leicester and Southampton facing off against the Gunners are other FA Cup games to watch out for.

Disclaimer: We know these games are not league games. But we had to sneak it in, either ways.

  1. AC Milan vs. Atalanta

In sixth, it’s easy to think Atalanta are way off the mark in the league.

However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have not lost a game since November last year. That’s 12 games without defeat. Last year’s UCL quarter-finalists, are picking up the pace after a sluggish start to the season. And it’s the perfect time to face the log leaders, AC Milan.

The history between both sides is evenly poised – six wins apiece and six draws.

With only one lose since November too, the leaders are doing all they can to put the chasing pack at bay. And they will find this next opponent a tough nut to crack.

  1. AS Monaco vs. Marseille

Although Marseille have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three games, they are unbeaten in their last three and have failed to manage a win in their last four.

While you’re trying to make sense of their form, Monaco, on the other hand, have now registered three wins on the bounce. Their games have also been turned into a goal fest, with nine of the last 10 each featuring at least three goals.
