Liverpool increased their lead at the top of the table after defeating Manchester City last weekend. After 12 games, the Reds have now remained unbeaten in the league. They are replicating the kind of form Manchester City needed to win the league in the 2017/2018 season.
However beautiful their journey sounds, the journey ahead is still as tricky as can be.
As European champions, Liverpool have more-than-enough competitions to attend to, so much so that it may get hectic. As they prepare for the FIFA World Club Cup in December, there’s the EFL Cup also. Because of their commitment as European champions, some of their league games will have to be postponed.
The Reds will go on to start the New Year with games in hand and, possibly, their lead on the table reduced. Playing postponed games at later dates can lead to a hectic schedule for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Accumulated playing time without necessary rest can lead to key players getting injured.
So far, so good, the Reds have shown that they have what it takes to go all the way in the Premier League. But, they’re not the only side in the league.
