The 2018 Formula 1 season is barely 3 races old and there’s already a lot of drama, upsets (depending on which team you’re rooting for) and the race for the title, which we thought may not start this early, is already in full swing!
Just after two races (the Australian Grand Prix and the Bahrain Grand Prix), the leader-board is, among all that has happened, the most shocking part of the season.
Lewis Hamilton, the reigning champ, was tipped favorite to start the season on a high. And why not? Most fans predicted that the British driver would simply continue from where he stopped last season: qualifying for pole position as usual, out-driving his counterparts and taking the chequered flag time and time again.
But the reverse has been the case in the past two races. He (Hamilton) has found himself second on the log after the two races and has been out-performed by a certain German driver.
Sebastian Vettel, the driver who drives for Team Ferrari, has started the season on a high note. First it was the surprise win at the Australian Grand Prix. Then, to prove that win was not a fluke, he went ahead to finish the Bahrain Grand Prix as the fastest driver.
As things stand now, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) leads the driver standings with 50 points. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) is on second with 33 points while Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) is in third position, with 22 points.
Will it be one of them or will it be someone else?

As we countdown to the beginning of the race in China, we take a look at some of the drivers who stand a high chance of winning the race.
-
Sebastian Vettel
The German has the wind in his sails. With two races won already this season, he is set to start in pole position in China. This is indication that things can only get better for Vettel. With this kind of starting position, he’s a favorite to win the race.
-
Lewis Hamilton
You can’t completely rule out Hamilton, especially when it is a race on the Shanghai International Circuit. After winning in the country five times, he has become familiar with the terrain and will be looking to make his experience count. He struggled in qualifying. He will be starting the race in fourth but he remains a strong contender to win this race too.
-
Valtteri Bottas
The Team Mercedes driver has done badly for himself this season. He will be looking to go one better than he did in Bahrain (he finished the race in second place). He is one of the drivers who will be looking to benefit from any kind of misfortune Lewis Hamilton may suffer in China.
Do you think he can repeat this feat?
