The international break is over (thankfully!).
Now the stage is set for back-to-back action from the world of club football. This weekend will feature games from Europe’s top 5 leagues. Then the following week will feature games from the highly exciting UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.
There’s so much to look forward to in just a few days. So let’s start from where we are. Of the multitude of games set to be played this weekend, which of them should you be on the lookout for?
-
Wolfsburg vs. Hertha Berlin
After surviving relegation play-off last season, Wolfsburg has gotten off to a flier this season, maintaining a 100% record so far. With five goals scored and 2 conceded, they’re one of the three teams yet to drop points this season; the other two being Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin.
Hertha Berlin, third on the log, has come this far so early in the season because of the 3 goals they have scored and the clean sheet they have kept in their last two games.

Tottenham vs. Liverpool
Arguably one of the biggest games of the weekend, Liverpool will be looking to continue their 100% run when they travel to Wembley Stadium. For Spurs, this is a fortress wherein they have only lost twice since the start of last season.
But it will be difficult to keep Liverpool at bay as they’ve scored an average of 2 goals per game this season (same as Tottenham), conceding only once. Both teams scored in four of the last five Premier League meetings suggesting this will be a game of goals.

Watford vs. Manchester United
All that stands between Watford and a best ever start to a Premier League season is Manchester United. Their impressive home form of just 2 losses in 12 games at home is something the Red Devils should be at least wary of. But Mourinho can take solace in the fact that Watford have only beaten United five times in history.

Napoli vs. Fiorentina
Although they’ve only played 2 games this season, Fiorentina has only conceded one goal this season – joint best with Sampdoria. Their average of 3.5 goals/game may be the league’s best but they haven’t won at Napoli since 2014.
Fiorentina has scored first in seven of their last eight away games.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Real Madrid
Since both sides have yet to lose a game this season, both sides can remain unbeaten after this game. But only three of the last 17 meetings between both sides have ended in a draw, with the last two meetings between both sides ending in a score draw.
