Italian football has been exciting of late. Napoli has been topping the Serie A table for some months now, with Juventus playing catch up (something we’ve not seen in a long time).
Then there’s Simeone Inzaghi’s Lazio and Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan, both teams and their manager doing wonders.
Three of the four clubs mentioned above have made their way into the Coppa Italia semi-finals, the fourth club being Atalanta, a team that got eliminated from the UEFA Europa League by Borussia Dortmund.
With the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final games set to be played this week, here are some useful stats that can help you to earn some extra cash this week:
-
Goals
In the first leg of both semi-final games, only one goal was scored. When AC Milan hosted Lazio last month, both teams played out a goalless draw. Atalanta lost at home to Juventus by a lone goal.
Juventus, playing at home, will have all the advantage. In their past five games at home, they’ve only conceded two goals – against Tottenham. For Atalanta, the stats show that they should be able to score in this game, having scored in all of the last 5 games they played away from home.

As for the Lazio vs. Milan game, both teams have scored in their last six games (at home for Lazio and away from home for AC Milan). 6 out of their combined last 12 games saw both teams score and only one of those 12 games recorded less than 2 goals in it.
But which of these two teams do you think will score the first goal of the game?

The Streaks
Juventus have won their last 8 home matches against Atalanta in all competition. Not only that. They’ve also won 7 of their last 8 games in the Coppa Italia. As for Atalanta, they’ve scored at least two goals in their last 5 away games in all competitions, winning three of those five games.
Lazio on the other hand has scored 17 goals in their last 6 home games. That’s an average of almost 3 goals per game. For AC Milan, their goal-scoring record away from home stands at 2 goals per game. The Milanese side has kept 6 clean sheets in their last 8 Coppa Italia games and has remained undefeated in 11 of their last 12 Coppa Italia games.

The History
Because all four sides are Serie A teams, there’s a lot of history between the clubs.
In the last eight meetings between Juventus and Atalanta, Atalanta has never beaten the Old Lady. Juventus has won five of those games and the rest ended in draws. Of these eight games, Juventus played at home four times, scoring an average of 2 goals per game.

Of the past seven meetings between SS Lazio and AC Milan, only two of those games did not see both teams score in them. AC Milan has only beaten Lazio once in the past seven meetings and six of those seven games saw 2 or more goals scored in them.
