It’s been an eventful week in football, to say the least. Games have very rarely finished as expected this week. It’s the kind of week that bettors the world over dread.
First, it was Barcelona’s draw at Napoli. That was quickly followed by Manchester City’s win over Real Madrid and Lyon’s 1-0 win over Juventus.
Only a few clubs won both legs of their Europa League clashes, with teams like Arsenal, Sporting CP and Celtic crashing out at the Round of 32 stage.
Of course, there was also that Odion Ighalo goal at the Theatre of Dreams.
With non-stop football action set to continue from now till Monday, the surprises will definitely continue. Of all the games to look out for this weekend, one particular one is the EFL Cup final between Aston Villa and Manchester City.
On their way to this final, both team have been responsible for the elimination of teams like Manchester United, Leicester City, Liverpool and Wolves. On Sunday, the first trophy of the 2019/2020 English football season will be up for grabs.

Which Team Will Win?
Aston Villa have played one more game (5) than Manchester City in this competition (make it six if you consider their double-legged affair against Leicester City). It’s been an amazing run for the Villans so far as only one of the six EFL games they’ve played so far have featured under 2,5 goals. Leading up to this final game, they’ve scored 19 goals, an average of three per EFL game played this campaign.
Will they score and also concede in this clash?

Manchester City boast one of the best offense in European club football this season. Although the goals have since dropped in the Premier League, they’ve scored enough to make it to the final of the EFL Cup. The Citizens scored three goals each, against Preston, Southampton, Oxford United and Manchester United in the first leg. Only in their second leg encounter at the Etihad Stadium did Man. City fail to score.
Just like Aston Villa, Manchester City also failed to keep a clean sheet in 80% of their EFL games this season.
The history between both sides is largely dominated by Manchester City. Save for a 0:0 draw in 2015, Manchester City have won all their last seven meetings against Aston Villa. The last time the Villans won a game against Manchester City was in 2013.
Only three of the last 20 games between these two Premier League sides has ended in a draw after 90 minutes.
Will this game produce a winner after 90 minutes or will the game drag on into extra-time? Drop your comments and join the conversation.
