Liverpool were the biggest winners from the third round of EFL Cup games last week. Well, on the pitch, they were. Off it, Tottenham were the big winners, getting a bye over Leyton Orient after their game was cancelled.
All of the drama from the just-concluded EFL Cup round has now set the stage for the next one. And you can look forward to some mouth-watering clashes in this one. One of such games is the clash between Mourinho’s Tottenham and Lampard’s Chelsea.
Having played five games in 15 days, it has been an unforgiving start to the season for Spurs. And it only gets more interesting this week for them as they take on their London rivals. The last time both sides met in the EFL Cup, it was in the semi-final stage.
Four goals were scored over both legs but Chelsea advance to the final. A final berth may not be on the line this time around. However, it’s still a go-big-or-go-home situation for both sides.

Only 16 teams made it to this stage of the competition. And two of the biggest sides that remain will also lock horns later this week, after their Premier League meeting. It’s a double-header for Liverpool and Arsenal this week as they seek to continue their EFL Cup journey.
With both teams scoring in seven of the last seven meetings, you can expect fireworks in this game. Arsenal have scored first in their last five games; a threat Liverpool will try to nullify when both teams square off later this week.

This is a competition Manchester City has dominated. Having won the last three editions of the EFL Cup, they will be looking to add a fourth and match Liverpool’s record of eight EFL Cup title wins. But first, they have to take on Burnley.
Although the home side, there’s still plenty of work for Sean Dyche’s men to do in this one. They have lost their last five against City, and have conceded in the last 10. They have also conceded the first goal in the last six. What’s more? Sean Dyche has never defeated Pep Guardiola in his last 10 attempts.
