June 29, 2021 Leave a Comment

Everything is at stake when England face Germany in their Euro 2020 round of 16 match on Tuesday. A quarter-final place, pride, bragging points, even jobs and more are at stake. England and Germany are old foes. Both Countries have faced each other so many times before, this will be the 33rd match between them. Given recent results in the R16, whoever wins this game should be legitimately eyeing a run to the final. This is easily the biggest game of this round and is the most anticipated.

England vs Germany is the biggest game of the Euro 2020 R16s. Who will go through? Click here to bet on who to advance on NairaBET.

ENGLAND

England have had tough luck against Germany. The 3 Lions have lost four times to Germany in major tournaments since the 1966 World Cup final. Since 1966, the two sides have met eight times at major tournaments. In that time, England only won once, at the group stage of Euro 2000. Current manager Gareth Southgate is not new to heartbreak against Germany. Southgate missed the decisive penalty that ended England’s journey at the Euro 1996 semi-final against the Germans. This new England team have had their own problems at Euro 2020 as well. They have only scored 2 goals so far in this tournament and have struggled in front of goal. Southgate will need to get his attacking stars to rediscover their form to navigate this tie.

England captain Harry Kane is yet to score at Euro 2020. Will he finally get his goal VS Germany? Click here to back Kane to score @ 2.70 odds on NairaBET.

GERMANY

Germany are no longer their usual dominating self. They are a team in transition. Long serving manager Joachim Low who took Germany to the final of Euro 2008, 3rd place at the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012 & 2016 semis & won the 2014 World Cup is leaving after Euro 2020. Low’s Germany team has however been in shambles of late. In just 3 months, they lost at home to North Macedonia and 6-0 to Spain. They have also lost to France at this Euros and had to snatch a draw against Hungary to progress. Germany failed to progress beyond the group stage at the 2018 World Cup. Low will look to right that wrong and win the 1 trophy beyond his grasp as Germany manager. He has to beat England to progress however and to do that, his team needs to display a much improved performance.

Germany are yet to keep a clean sheet at Euro 2020 so far. Click here to bet on Germany NOT to keep a clean sheet vs England @ 1.31 odds here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Germany have a superior head to head record over England. In 32 matches between the 2 Nations, Germany have 15 wins while England have 13. The pair have drawn just 4 times. The last 4 times both teams have met were friendlies with Germany winning twice, England once and 1 draw. The 2010 World Cup was the last competitive match between them which Germany won 4-1.

OUR PREDICTION

Form favours England. They won their group and are yet to concede in this tournament. Germany have not been convincing and their form is unpredictable. Bet now @ nairabet.com.
