The recent noise about Champions League football completely overshadowed the Europa League. While most fans are familiar with this year’s UCL run-in, only a few know what’s going on in the Europa League.
With the likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan still in the competition, there’s plenty to look forward to. More importantly, you can still cash out from the Europa League when it resumes in August.
So, what’s there to know?

Start Point: Round of 16 Ties
The last games of the 19/20 Europa League season were played in March. And these games were just one of the two-legs to be played. The first business to be taken care off when the competition returns in August is to determine the winner of these ties.
Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen registered comfortable first-leg wins. But there’s still plenty to play for between Olympiacos and Wolves, with their first game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Two of the eight Round of 16 Europa League ties were not played before the enforced break. So, when the competition resumes in August, these two ties will be played as a one-off tie:
- Sevilla vs. AS Roma
- Inter vs. Getafe

Europa League Top Scorers
Since the knock-out stages kicked off, Manchester United have scored the most goals, with 11 in three games. It’s no surprise then that two of their players – Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood – make up the top ten goalscorers in the UEL this season.
Six players are currently joint-top scorers with six goals. Alongside Fernandes, Alfredo Morelos, Edin Visca, Diogo Jota and Daichi Kamada still have a chance to increase their tally.

Europa League Fixtures
Because of the number of games to be played, four match venues in Germany, will be used for the games. The first eight games of the competition will be played in two days – August 5 and 6.
Speaking of games, the Europa League draws also revealed which teams will face each other in the quarter-finals. While sides like Man. Utd and Inter Milan cannot face each other until the final, there’s the possibility of an all-English affair against Wolves or a meeting with Sevilla.
