Europa League Round 2 Betting Preview

Europa League Round 2 Betting PreviewFollowing hot on the heels of the Champions League action is the second round of the Europa League games.

The 2019/2020 season started with a bang in September as no first-round game ended in a goalless draw. Of the 24 games that were played, only three ended in a draw.

The first round of games was largely dominated by the home teams. Only five sides recorded away wins. As the second round of games kicks off on Thursday, here’s a betting review to guide your selections:

  1. The Big Winners

Teams that registered big wins in the first round of the competition will be looking to keep up the momentum going into the second round. Whether they’re playing at home or away, it may not matter much.

Here are a few big winners from the first round:

  • Arsenal defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 0-3
  • Sevilla defeated Qarabag 0-3
  • Basel and Ludogorets scored five goals in their respective games
  • Wolfsberger and AS Roma both recorded 4-0 wins
Did you notice that all the teams listed above scored over 2,5 goals?

  1. No Advantage

The first round of games was largely dominated by the home sides. However, going into the second round, you may want to reconsider backing all the home teams. And here’s why:

In this second round of Europa League games, there seems to be a perfect balance. Arsenal, Celtic, Lazio, and Sevilla will all be playing at home. However, the likes of Manchester United, AS Roma, FC Porto and PSV will be playing away from home.

Do you think there will be any surprises in this second round of Europa League games?

You should look out for which side is the home side/away side and bet accordingly.

  1. Goals

Over half of the games played in Round 1 saw over 2,5 goals scored in them. However, seven of the 24 games ended with 1-0 score-lines. Both teams scored in less than half (11) of the games played.

Round 1 featured a perfect balance of goals being scored at the same time, a lack of them.

  1. The Table Toppers

There weren’t too many surprises from the first round of games in the new Europa League season. Most of the teams expected to win registered comfortable wins.

While football is largely unpredictable, you can use this trend to create your accumulator bet slip for the second round.

One way to do this is to back the teams currently topping the 12 groups. Some of these teams include Sevilla, Basel, Arsenal, FC Porto, Wolfsburg, and Manchester United.
