The second leg of the Round of 16 games in the Europa League will be played later this week. And from how events played out last week, the excitement is only set to continue this week.

Featuring three English sides and two from Spain and Italy respectively, the big boys are still very much involved. Alongside other sides from different parts of Europe, there will be a battle for a quarter-final spot on Thursday.

While some teams enter the fray this week with an advantage, others come into the second leg with a deficit. Two of such teams are Shakhtar Donetsk and Young Boys.

For Young Boys from Switzerland, a 3-0 loss in the Netherlands puts them on the back-foot going into this fixture.

Unable to keep a clean sheet in five and unable to win their last five, their woes may just continue on Thursday.

Ajax have not lost any of their last 21 games.

The Ukrainian lost to AS Roma by the same score-line last week Thursday in Italy. Now playing at home, they will be hoping to overturn the deficit while also keeping the Italians at bay.

It’s always a goal fest when these two sides square off against each other. Five of the last seven games between the two sides have finished with at least two goals each.

Shakhtar Donetsk have won all of their last three home games against AS Roma.

For Slavia Praha, Rangers, SC Milan and Manchester United, the tale is very much different.

All four sides played out a draw in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 games. Now, it’s all to play for in the second leg of their fixture.

Rangers, fresh off being crowned champions of club football in Scotland, will welcome Praha to their home turf. But they will face a stern test from a side that is also on an 18-game unbeaten run.

Four of the last five games between both sides have produced at least three goals each, with both sides scoring in four of those five.

Rangers have scored the first goal in nine of their last 10 games.
Praha have scored the first goal in six of their last seven games.

The Red Devils have to travel to the San Siro and get a favorable result if they’re to progress. The Italians were the first side to score against Ole’s men in the Europa League this season.

But they have to break the jinx of having failed to defeat Man. Utd in their last five attempts.

Arsenal and Tottenham are the two other English sides remaining in the Europa League. And they will be looking to leverage on their comfortable first-leg wins when they play later this week.
