Usually when a football season kicks off, club managers get different targets to be reached by the club owners or board members. For some, it’s the Champions League or nothing. For some others, winning the league is good enough while avoiding relegation is just fine for other clubs.

In a bid to reach these targets, different tactics come to play, one of which is to ensure that losses are reduced to the barest minimum.

Looking at the history of football, some teams were able to finish a league season without tasting defeat. The likes of Arsenal, Celtic, Milan and Juventus showed the world how it is done.

The football season is very much underway now and some teams are gradually following in the footstep of these clubs after remaining unbeaten in their respective leagues so far. But can they go unbeaten?

  1. Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side has not tasted defeat since the 2017-2018 football season began – and they’re currently competing in three different competitions.

In the Premier League, their 3-1 win over Arsenal earned them their 10th win in the Premier League this season. With 31 points, a goal difference of +31 and having scored 38 goals so far in the league so far, Manchester City are the top scorers in Europe’s top five leagues.

Next up for the Cityzens is a trip to Leicester City to face the Foxes.
Will it be their 11th win of the season or will it be their first loss?

  1. Napoli

Even though they’re yet to win the Serie A title in the last 27 years, Napoli have started the new campaign like a side on a mission to wrestle the title from the hands of Juventus.

The Maurizio Sarri-led side has a lethal attacking threat, with Jose Callejon, Lorenzo Insigne, Marek Hamsik and Dries Mertens forming a quartet good enough to scare any defense. That’s why they have won 10 of their 11 Serie A games so far, drawing just one and scoring 32 goals in the process.

Have we mentioned that they’re currently topping the Serie A table?

After their goalless draw at Chievo, Napoli will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face AC Milan at home.
There were over 1.5 goals in the last six meetings between these two sides. Will this trend continue when these two sides meet again?

  1. Barcelona

Just like Manchester City, the Catalan giants have won 10 of the 11 opening games of the current La Liga campaign. They have also scored 28 goals in the process, while conceding just three goals.

Valverde’s side has been heavily dependent on Messi for the goals this season, and this has helped them greatly on their way to an unbeaten start to the season. Can Barca finish the season unbeaten?

While we’re asking if they can go all the way and finish the season unbeaten, they face Leganes in their next league game.
Will it be another win for Barcelona?

  1. PSG

Say hello to the side whose scoring feat this season is second only to Manchester City’s. The addition to their attack line during the summer definitely paid off.  That frontline has taken Ligue 1 by storm and has helped the French side to remain unbeaten this campaign.

In the Champions League, PSG have also dominated their group. Top of the group, they’re yet to lose a game, have scored 17 goals in the process and are yet to concede so far in the competition. Talk about firepower!

Up next for PSG is Claudio Ranieri’s Nantes.
The odds are highly in favor of Neymar and co.
But how many goals will be scored in this game?
Over 3.5 goals? Over 4.5 goals?

These are some of the sides yet to taste defeat in their league this season and are topping their league table. Do you see any of them finishing the league season unbeaten? Share your views with us by leaving us a comment. We’d love to hear from you.
