In Qatar, six of the world’s best football clubs are competing for a chance to win the FIFA Club World Cup.
Six of them started out to win the trophy when the tournament began last week. However, two of them have now fallen by the way side, with the other two set to play their first game this week.
In the second round of games, Tigres UANL of Mexico and Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea clashed. Both nicknamed ‘Tiger,’ both sides scored but it was the Mexicans that made it through. In the second game of the second round, Al Duhail of Qatar and Al Ahly of Egypt battled it out. The Egyptians would pull through with a lone goal.
Al Duhail and Ulsan Hyundai will now fight it out to determine which side is the fifth-best of the competition. But as you can expect, theirs is the most unimportant game of the tournament.

Introducing Bayern Munich and Palmeiras…
With Tigres and Al Ahly making it to the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup, they now have their work cut out for them.
For the Mexican side, they will face this year’s Copa Libertadores champions, Palmeiras. The South American champions, although appearing in the competition for the first time, will be well aware of the Brazilian history that this tournament has.

Since its inception in the year 2000, no other country has produced more FIFA Club World Cup finals than Brazil. Eight times, a Brazilian side has made it to the final of the competition.
For the Mexicans, it’s yet another major hurdle to cross after breaking the jinx of reaching the CONCACAF final and not winning it. To feature in the final, they have to defeat the Brazilians who are champions of the other half of America.
In the other semi-final, it’s Africa versus Europe as Al Ahly take on Bayern Munich. The champions of Africa will have their hands full in this one, without a doubt. And the reason is not far-fetched. The history of this competition is littered with European sides featuring in the final.

Of the 16 times this competition has been played, the Europeans have won it 12 times. Bayern Munich made it to the final in 2013… and won it. Or Pitso Mosimane and his North African boys, their fight is not only against the Bavarians in this one. This is a fight against history too.
Can they become only the third African side to reach the final of the competition? Which of these four sides will make it to the final? Drop your comments below.
