As usual, it’s going to be another weekend full of football action the world over.
For fans, there’s plenty to enjoy. For bettors, there’ll be more-than-enough games to cash in on and make money from.
However, most bettors only bet on teams that they’ve heard about or watched on T.V.
Have you considered betting on the teams playing in leagues apart from Europe’s top five (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1)?
Whether your answer is yes or no, here are some second-division teams you should pay attention to this weekend:
-
Troyes
The Ligue 2 is notorious for many games that don’t have a lot of goals scored in them. Score margins like 0-0, 0-1, 1-1 are common in the league where Troyes plies their trade.

The French Ligue 2 side may not be top of the league.
However, Troyes, with their four wins in their last five games, have continued their climb to the top of the table. They are now third on the table, having scored eight goals and conceded just two.
-
Arminia Bielefeld
The log leaders in the 2. Bundesliga have scored the most goals in the league.
In addition, they also boast the league’s best defense, conceding less than a goal per game.
With six points between them and Stuttgart in second place, they’re on their way to gaining promotion to the Bundesliga.

They haven’t lost in their five games, having lost just once in their last 13 2. Bundesliga games. During that run, they have kept a clean sheet in five of them and are enjoying a fine run of form.
-
Benevento
Just like Arminia, the league leaders in the Italian Serie B are enjoying a fine run of form.
They are just six goals shy of averaging two goals scored per game this season. The 15 goals they have conceded so far makes their defense the best in the league, by miles.
Leading the table with a 19-point margin, Benevento are set to make a return to the Serie A next season.
Although they may be forced to play their games behind closed doors because of the Coronavirus, Benevento’s fine form won’t be stopping anytime soon.
-
West Brom and Leeds
It’s been a very tight race for the title in the English Championship.
The lead at the top of the table has changed mostly between these two sides; West Brom and Leeds. And although Leeds have found a way to keep it tight at the back in recent games, they’re still one point behind West Brom.
While West Brom have the best offense in the league, Leeds have the best defense in the league.
They have won 13 out of the last possible 15 points.
