If you are not following the gaming action in the Ice Hockey World Championship, you are definitely missing a lot.
The championship started on 10th May and since then, different teams in different groups have tried their best to qualify for the play-off rounds.
As usual, there are two groups in the game. And the teams in the top four spots in each group will qualify to play at the quarterfinals.
The play-offs will begin this week with the quarter final games.
The most pressing question at this point is: Which teams will make it to the quarter final play-off?
Most teams have just a game left to play. Will this game be a lift for them, or will it push them further down the table?
Let’s take a look at the promising teams this season.
Group A
At the moment, Finland is sitting at the top of the table with 13 points.
Following closely is Canada with 12 points and Germany at #3 with 12 points too. USA is fourth.
The competition is really tight among the top three. Each of them has won 4 out of their five games. As you can see, Canada and Germany share same points.
These three teams seem bent on getting to the quarterfinals.
What we should be more concerned about is USA’s standing. They are just two points above Slovakia.
They have won three out of the five games they have played. And we are hoping they win the next two.
USA seems to have the upper edge though. They have two more games to decide their fate while Slokavia has just one more.
If USA plays well, they get to keep their spot on the table, and if possible, take the third spot from Germany.
However, if they do not play well, then it will be Slovakia in the fourth spot, qualifying for the quarter final games.
Do you think they can finish the game with a win?

Group B
Russia is currently dominating the table in this group with 15 points.
However, what’s interesting is; Sweden, Switzerland and Czech (second, third, and fourth respectively) all have 12 points.
Anyways, they all have two more games to play to decide their fate.
Anything could happen in those games… But with the way things are, these teams might end up being the top four to qualify for the quarter final games.
Czech have created a safe cushion for themselves. Latvia, which are fifth on the table, have just sixth points.
It will be almost impossible for them to meet up with Czech and take the fourth spot away from them.
Do you think they’ve got what it takes to win?
