In one way or the other, this is not the most fascinating headline any football lover looks forward to. Okay, maybe we’re taking the generalizations a bit too far. Maybe there are football lovers who love country football much more than club football.

But that number won’t be much. Most football fans would choose to see their favorite clubs in action rather than watch the same players play in their country’s jerseys. It’s kind of unexplainable.

Whether you’re a big fan of club football or a super fan of country football, get ready for friendlies, World Cup qualifiers and even more country football in the coming days as club football takes a backseat.

We will be keeping tabs on the dramatic end to the long summer transfer window, as players travel miles across the globe to play either for their fatherland or “adopted-land.” The next few days will be littered with news of players leaving their national team camps to sign contract. But, let’s focus on the games you can look forward to in the coming days.

In Africa, there’s:
  • Guinea V Libya
  • Tunisia V DR Congo
  • Nigeria V Cameroon
  • Zambia V Algeria
  • Cape Verde V South Africa
  • Senegal V Burkina Faso
  • Morocco V Mali
  • Gabon V Ivory Coast
  • Uganda V Egypt
  • Ghana V Congo

Keep an eye out for the game between Tunisia and DR Congo. Both sides are unbeaten in Group A of the CAF World Cup Qualifiers, with only goals difference separating them. Another game to look out for is Nigeria vs. Cameroon in Group B. The Super Eagles will be looking to increase the 4-point gap between themselves and the Indomitable Lions. Zambia vs. Algeria is also another to look out for.

Ghana has only managed one point from 2 games so far.
Congo has not registered any.
The two teams will be facing off against each other.

In Europe, the race to Russia 2018 is very much on. One of the games you should look forward to is France vs. Netherlands. Separated by just three points, Didier Deschamps’ men will be looking to increase the gap and take the top spot from Sweden.

Another game to watch out for is Slovakia V Slovenia. Both teams are separated by just a point and one team will be looking to upset the other and take (or retain) their spot on the log table.
