As the new year gets older, more football leagues in Europe are waking up from their winter hibernation. With the Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A underway, the French Ligue 1 will follow suit this weekend while the German Bundesliga will resume later this month.
Unlike the Serie A and the Spanish La Liga this season, the French Ligue 1 has been mostly one-way traffic. PSG have been too good for the rest of the league, having opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the table. Since losing 2-1 to Dijon in November, the Paris-based outfit have played six leagues games… and have won them all.
They start off their year with a game against Monaco – a side they will play against twice in the league, three days. Going by the numbers between both teams, it’s going to be all about PSG as they have defeated Monaco in nine of their last 10 meetings.

Dijon vs. Lille
Lille may have won 12 points from their last five games. However, their next quest will be a very difficult one. This weekend, they’ll take on a Dijon side that has won three of its last seven games, kept a clean sheet in three of those games and was unbeaten in all seven.
Lille have scored an average of two goals per game in their last five in all competitions. However, their league record of scoring six in their last five puts them at a disadvantage going into this clash.
Metz vs. Strasbourg
Metz have not won a game since October 19, 2019. Since then, they’ve lost five times and drawn six of the 11 they’ve played. They’re sitting ducks to aim at for any side in the league at the moment, including Strasbourg.
