Man. City vs. Arsenal

From now on, international football will take a back seat for club football to take center-stage once again. And from now till the next month, it’ll be non-stop club football action, especially across Europe.

While UCL football is lurking around the corner, club football will return with the derby games and, of course, the blockbuster in England, Manchester City versus Arsenal. Since the Premier League began, the league has served up one heavyweight clash per week for its fans the world over. And this resumption week will not be any different.

For some, it’s the Citizens versus the Gunners. For others, it’s Pep Guardiola vs. Mikel Arteta. Regardless of how you decide to look at this one, it’s a battle between two sides that need the three points at stake.

For Man. City, it’s all about stabilizing a very strange start to the football season. With only one win in three games, and with all the money spent, they can’t afford any more slip-ups. From hence, they need the wins that have since eluded them. Despite scoring six in their last three, their defense is still a mess.

They have conceded seven in their last three and need to stop shipping in the goals. But can they manage that against an Arsenal side that they have struggled against in the last few games?

Arsenal, in fourth place, have won three of their first four games. Although they have conceded an average of one goal per game during that run, they have not been shy when it comes to getting the goals.

Arsenal have scored an average of two goals per game since the new PL season resumed.

Both sides have lost one game each since the season began. But Arsenal is in fourth while Manchester City are in the bottom half of the table. And both sides share quite the history between them.

Arsenal may have won the last meeting between both sides. However, this is a fixture that Manchester City loves to play in – whether at home or away from home. Only one of the last 10 games between both sides has ended in a draw. For Arsenal, they have only been able to register two wins during that run.

When both sides clash, there’s almost always a fest of goals. In the last 10 meetings between the two sides, at least three goals were scored in eight of them.

Manchester City have won the first half in seven of their last eight games against Arsenal.
