This week, Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League will kick off, with yet another 16 games to be played.
Gradually, the different groups are taking shape as the competition continues. In some groups, the gap is steadily increasing while in some others, the stiff competition has ensured that there’s no separating the teams.
UCL group games are not as popular as the knockout stages because it’s more feisty and the bigger teams get to clash as the competition draws near to its end. But this year in the UCL has been different. We’ve had major clashes in the group stage and the trend is set to continue this week.
On Tuesday, Manchester United will welcome Juventus to Old Trafford. Central to this game is the news of players facing their former clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo will face his former club side while Paul Pogba will welcome his old teammates to the Theatre of Dreams.
This is the first of two consecutive clashes between both sides in the UCL this season. Both sides could only manage draws in their respective league games this past weekend.
