The third round of FA Cup games featured major wins for the home teams. Of the 32 games played, 15 were won by the home teams while nine were won by the away sides.

The remaining six? All ended in draws as both teams were inseparable after 90 minutes. As an FA Cup rule, games that end in draws must be replayed to determine the team that will progress to the next round of the competition.

Because of this, six FA Cup games will be replayed during the week with plenty to look forward to and anticipate. These games come with a twist however. Teams that played at home in the first leg will play the second leg away from.

So, what’s there to look forward to this week?

  1. Watford vs. Tranmere

Of all the six games that ended in a stalemate, this was the highest-scoring encounter, featuring six goals. Watford, after scoring three first-half goals, conceded two goals in the last 15 minutes of the game, as Tranmere forced a replay. The Premier League side will be looking to avoid an FA Cup set-back by losing to the League One side.

  1. Manchester United vs. Wolves

This was the only draw that ended without a goal as both sides failed to find the back of the net. It was also the first time in 15 meetings between both sides that the fixture ended in a goalless draw. All is now set for the return leg as Man. Utd look to make the most advantage of their impressive home record against Wolves.

Although Old Trafford is not the fortress it used to be, Manchester United have only lost one of their last 10 home games.

Wolves have never defeated the Red Devils at home since 2003. In their last seven meetings to the Theatre of Dreams, they’ve lost all but one, their 1-1 draw two years ago.

  1. Tottenham vs. Middlesbrough

Jose Mourinho’s side will have to deal with some notable absences for a few months as well as the fear of getting knocked of the competition at this stage. Their 1-1 draw against the Championship side means they have to play a game while other Premier League teams are resting – save for Man. Utd, Wolves and Watford.

Spurs need to win this game in order to bounce back from their defeat against Liverpool. There’s plenty of history between both sides. Six of the last 10 meetings between both sides have ended in a Tottenham win. Can they record yet another win in this game?

Five other games will be played this week in the FA Cup including

  • Newcastle vs. Rochdale
  • Shrewsbury vs. Bristol City
  • Blackpool vs. Reading
  • Coventry vs. Bristol Rovers
  • Carlisle vs. Cardiff

Which of these teams will progress to the next round? Leave us your comments and share your thoughts with the world.
