Weekends in the Premier League don’t get any bigger than this. Game week 16 will be featuring three derbies, West Ham vs. Chelsea, Liverpool vs. Everton and Manchester United vs. Manchester City. You can as well call it the Derby Weekend.
Most fans, although aware of the cross-town rivalry in London, will be looking forward to both the Merseyside and Manchester derbies. Both games are the biggest events that will be happening in the Premier League this weekend.
As we all look forward to both encounters, here’s a preview of both games.
Liverpool vs. Everton
After what seemed like a terrible start to the season under Ronald Koeman, Everton decided to move things forward under Sam Allardyce. As fate would have it, it ended up being a great move. They’ve won all their games under the tutelage of Big Sam, scoring an average of 3 goals per game and keeping clean sheets in all games.
Liverpool on the other hand, has been scoring goals for fun in recent games. With the league’s highest goal scorer Mohammad Salah in their ranks, the Reds have scored a whopping 22 times in their last 6 games in all competitions.
Bragging rights is at stake as the Reds host the Evertonian Blues. Which of these two teams will win?
Manchester United vs. Manchester City
The team that has conceded the least amount of goals goes against the one side that has defied all odds so far in the Premier League. This time around, the game is not so much about the managers as it is about the teams and the players that will be key to both sides.
For Manchester United, their 14 goals in their last 6 games in all competitions is proof that they can score any time they want to. They’ve been able to keep it really tight at the back this season, conceding just 10 goals so far in the league.
Manchester City will be looking to not only increase their goal tally (46) but to also earn their 14th win in a row, a feat no other club in the Premier League has been able to manage. This should be easy (or not?) for a side that has scored at least two goals in each of their last 8 Premier League games.
Which of these two teams will win the Manchester derby? What about the Merseyside derby? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think?
