The NBA ended last season with the domination of Golden State Warriors and Lebron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. Both sides brushed all aside on their way to the play-off finals where Cavs lost to Steve Kerr’s Warriors.
During the break, before this new campaign tipped off, a couple of players got traded and it tipped the hierarchy scale in the NBA. Of course, James Harden remained with the Houston Rockets while Russell Westbrook continued with OKC Thunder.
Kyrie Irving
But there were some major players whose move ensured that the new NBA season would not be a ride in the park for the big boys. First on the list is Boston Celtics’ Kyrie Irving who moved to Boston from Cleveland.
He’s been a great addition to the Celtics squad and his 21.8 PPG (points per game) has helped them to win 6 out of their first 8 games this regular season. They’re currently topping the Eastern Conference and seem like they’re raring to go.
The Eastern Conference
As mentioned above, the Celtics have started well in the conference with their 6 – 2 form. But some other sides have ensured that they remain in touch. The likes of Orlando Magic (6 – 2), Indiana Pacers (5 – 3) and Detroit Pistons (5 -3) are not letting the Celtics out of their sights.
The Western Conference
When the Golden State Warriors were beaten by the Houston Rockets last month, it was the confirmation of the obvious: the Warriors had the super-stars but the rest were ready to push them all the way.
After losing three of their first 9 games this season, Golden State Warriors, with their .667 win percentage, currently sit third on the NBA Western Conference table.
LA Clippers and Houston Rockets are the two sides ranked first and second in the conference. It is already obvious that these are the three clubs that will be troubling the waters in this division. Spurs and the rest may not be able to cope this season.
The Strugglers
While there’s plenty of praise for the sides doing well, the same cannot be said for some other teams who have not been playing as well. Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks have only been able to manage one win respectively since the regular season began.
The same can also be said for Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls. Both sides have only tasted victory once this season and, although early, already face the prospect of missing out on the play-offs when it starts.
The Upcoming Games
Since the NBA tipped off earlier this month, at least one game has been played. For fans and bettors alike, that can be very stressful. Depending on which country you live, it could be even harder to see your favorite team when they play.
While you can catch game highlights here and there, you can also make some money for yourself by backing your preferred NBA stars when they play. Click here to put your money where your mouth is and make some extra cash for yourself this November.
