In the world of football across the globe, the past few days have been about leagues ending, and new ones kicking off from where they stopped. There have also been playoff games for promotion in Italy and France.
And for most of the games available, there aren’t many trends (or statistics) to look through when selecting games. If you’re the type of bettor that relies heavily on stats and trends to make your selections, then this blog post is for you.
Action in the NBA and the NHL has been on for a few weeks now. Just like the just-concluded Major League Soccer in Florida, the NBA and the NHL set up a quarantined environment for players, coaches, and staff, to ensure the safety of everyone involved and also limit travelling.
With plenty of action to cash in on, what are the trends to look out for in these two leagues?
NBA
It’s been an eventful run-in to the playoffs in the NBA these past few days. From the Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks, here are some trends you should consider when placing your next basketball bets:
- Boston Celtic, currently third in the Eastern Conference standings, are currently on a four-game winning streak. The Celtics, since the season restarted, have only lost two of their last seven, all of which they scored more than 100 points in.
How many points do you think will be scored in their next game?

- In the Western Conference, there’s a team with a better streak. The Phoenix Suns, despite losing one of their preparatory games – against Boston Celtics – have not lost a game since the restart. Theirs is a winning run that has featured games against the likes of LA Clippers, OKC Thunder and, Miami Heat.

NHL
Done with the qualifying round, all is now set for the NHL Playoffs proper.
Eight teams have been eliminated, with the remaining teams playing in spectator-less arenas in two Canadian hub cities – Toronto, where the Eastern Conference games are played and Edmonton, where the Western Conference games will take place.
So, what trends are there to note?
- In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins finished the Round Robin stage with a three-game losing streak. Ther record was in total contrast to Philadelphia Flyers’, a team also in the Eastern Conference, that has won four of its last four.

- Just like the Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights won all of their Round Robin games. And now, they have added another important win to that streak, a 4-1 win in the first game of the playoff match-up against Chicago Blackhawks
