This year’s NBA Playoffs Finals kicked off in spectacular fashion — nobody was expecting less. From Kevin Durant’s dribble-and-slam-dunk move in the 1st quarter to Andre Iguodala’s buzzer beater at the end of the same quarter, it was an explosive start to a highly anticipated final.
While there was a trademark Lebron James slam somewhere in the mix, and Kyrie Irving was able to pull off an incredible jump shot for a 4-point play in Q2, the Cleveland Cavaliers still lost the game by a 113-91 score line. While the GS Warriors will be jubilant with drawing first blood, they will be wary of resting on their oars.
Although the California-based side won both halves thanks to Kevin Durant and Steph Curry’s combined 66points, 18 assists and 14 rebounds, they’ll also be quick to remember that last year’s NBA Finals, which they lost to the same opposition, started out in the same fashion.
So, maybe there’s nothing to celebrate yet. But, if history is anything to go by, the Warriors will be looking forward to Game 2 already. You know why?
They won the second game of last year’s best-of-seven series and must be smacking their lips at the chance to pull even further away from King James and co on home court.
But, the Cavaliers, despite playing in foreign territory, will not roll over for the Warriors to take a stroll. With Klay Thompson not at his optimum in Game 1, the Cavs might opt to focus more on KD and the Chef, thereby taking their chances of reducing the threat the duo present.
With Game 1 gone, who will win Game 2?
