New Ligue 1 Season: Betting Markets to Cash in On

New Ligue 1 Season

New Ligue 1 Season

The premier club football league in France has become the first of the top five leagues in Europe to resume its 2020/2021 football season.

Although sides like PSG and Lyon were not in action on Week 1 because of Champions League commitments, they will join this weekend. With as many as 10 games to be played and several rising stars to watch out for, what betting markets should you be targeting?

  1. Goals

Of the seven opening-round games played, only one finished without a goal – the league opener between Bordeaux and Nantes.

Nimes scored four unreplied goals. Lorient put three past Strasbourg and the AS Monaco – Stade de Reims scored two goals apiece. With these numbers, there are several markets to cash in on, including:

  • Half-time Goals
  • Goals for Specific Teams
  • Teams to Score First and Last Goals
  • First Team to Reach X Goals
  • Multi-Goals
  • Teams to Keep a Clean Sheet
Four of the opening seven games of the new Ligue 1 season finished with both teams scoring.

  1. The Away Wins for the Big Teams

In the first round of Ligue 1 games, only one finished with the away side as winners. The others saw either draws or the home side triumphing. In the next set of games, specifically the second round of games, the likes of PSG, and Marseille will be away from home. The likes of Lyon will play their first game of the season at home.

  1. Handicaps

A PSG win over Metz has been priced at 1.12 odds on NairaBET. A Lyon win over Dijon has been priced at 1.35 on NairaBET. If you’re a bettor who wants to cash in bigger odds, you can opt for the handicap markets, instead of avoiding the games totally.

For PSG’s next game, giving Metz a two-goal lead and still banking on a PSG win gives you 1.70 odds. Not bad for a bet slip booster.

  1. Shock Results?

Do you know that the second round of the 2019/2020 French Ligue 1 season featured some shock results?

  • PSG suffered a 2-1 shock loss away to Stade Rennais
  • Monaco failed to score in a 3-0 away loss to Metz
  • Montpellier played out a 1-1 draw
  • The Marseille – Nantes game could produce neither a goal nor a winner
  • Five players saw red cards
  • Lyon scored six unreplied goals

For some teams, it’s the first time they’ll be playing – the likes of Marseille and Metz. While match fitness may be a concern, another huge concern might be irregular results. And as a bettor, you should be on the lookout for these shock results – to either avoid them or take advantage of them.
