It’s been quite the Premier League season. The 2017/2018 Premier League season is gradually coming to an end. With Manchester City inching ever closer to clinching the season’s title, all that’s left for fans now is to anticipate the remaining action.
It’s also a time for players and managers to be recognized for all the hard work they did over what has been a long football season. In the light of these, several nominees for several awards are being released in recent times, including the PFA Player of the Year award.
During the week, a six-man shortlist for the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year award was released. The shortlist includes Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), David de Gea (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotpsur), David Silva (Manchester City), Leroy Sane (Manchester City).
Purely dominated by Manchester City players, – no thanks to their stellar season – the award, which is currently being held by N’Golo Kante, will be given to the winner before the end of April. While you await the winner to be announced, which of these player has been the most impressive for you this season?
-
Mohamed Salah
By all standards, the Egyptian had a superb season. His goal against Bournemouth on Saturday was his 30th in 34 league games.
The 25-year-old’s goals and assists have earned the Reds 15 points – more than any other Premier League player. He has been involved in 51% of his side’s 78 league goals, again more than any other player.

Kevin de Bruyne
He may not rank highly on the goal scoring charts but the Belgian is the king of assists this season.
His passes, crosses and set-piece deliveries helped City dominate what was supposed to be a tight race for the title. He has provided more assists (15) and created more chances (102) than any other player in the Premier League this season and has also scored 11 goals.
-
David de Gea
Where would Manchester United be this season without this amazing goalkeeper? Among every other thing he has achieved this season, the highlight has to be his stellar performance against Arsenal where he set a new Premier League record with the saves he made.
-
David Silva
An integral part of Pep Guardiola’s side, the Spaniard seemed to step up his play a notch this season with his performances for the Cityzens.
Aged 32, the midfielder has created 14 goals for City and his pass completion rate of 89% is the highest of any attacking player in the Premier League.

Harry Kane
Although he had to endure a spell on the sidelines due to injuries suffered, the English striker proved to all that his goal-scoring abilities are legendary. With 25 goals to his name, goalkeepers won’t forget his name in a hurry this season.
-
Leroy Sane
When the German youngster suffered an injury to his ankle, Manchester City struggled to find the perfect replacement. No player could replace the player who is accustomed to hugging the touchline, running defenders ragged and drifting into the opposition’s 18-yard area.
Of the 44 games he played for Manchester City in the 2017-2018 calendar year, he scored 13 goals and made 16 assists. Not bad for a player with plenty of football-playing time left in him.
Of all these six players, which player would you like to see win the award this month? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
Kevin de Bruyne
As for me, his the best midfield presently due Mohamed Salah is also good at what he does but we are talking about a player that one can build a team around him.
In fact he is simply fantastic
And with these kind of people around him Leroy Sane and David Silva they will be unstoppable.
Hmmm…true talk. Great comment!
