The Premier league is just 2 games away from the half-way mark for the season. And so far, it has been a season to remember. Not only does it seem the title race will go down to the wire this season. From the look of things, the race to finish in the top four will be a keenly contested one.

The last weekend featured MatchDay 17 games. In as much as the Liverpool win over Manchester United was largely expected, no one saw Arsenal’s loss against the Saints coming. It was one of the most surprising results of the weekend.

That win lifted Southampton out of the relegation zone. The win not only ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run, it left the Gunners sitting outside the top four – at least for the time being. Tottenham and Chelsea’s win over the weekend now mean they occupy the top four spots (alongside Liverpool and Manchester City).

It was yet another loss for Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham. They’ve scored an average of less than one goal per game and are rock bottom on the table. With 9 points from 17 games, they may just be on their way back to the Championship.

The bottom 7 sides are the only teams in the league that are yet to cross the 20-point mark. Only 7 points separate Newcastle (14th) and Fulham (20th). It’s the Premier League and anything can still happen in the long run, including all 7 teams avoiding relegation and 3 of them getting relegated.

Bournemouth has seen a slump in form, dropping to 11th on the table. On the other hand, Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham is enjoying a resurgence in their form, moving up to 9th on the table. Wolves, in 7th place, are dining with the giants.

Having come this close, it is sure that they will be dreaming of playing football in Europe already.

But they have to find a way past their next opponents in the league, Liverpool.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has found a way to get points off the top teams in the league this season.

A quick glance at the top of the table shows the struggle between Liverpool and Manchester City. Both sides are separated by just one point. One side has scored 48 goals (the league’s highest). The other has only conceded 7 goals this season (the league’s lowest).

Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester United not only got Jose Mourinho sacked. It also got fans of the league wondering, “Is this Liverpool side the real deal?”  The Reds don’t like they’re going to stop winning anytime soon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side looks like a side going for gold. They’re currently unbeaten and highly dreaded across the league. Let’s not even start with their incredible home form. When talking about potential title winners this season, you cannot overlook Liverpool.

But can the Reds go all the way to win the title? Can they avoid all the banana peels and the Gerrard slips to win the title this year? Leave us your comments and share your thought with us.
