The 2016/2017 Premier League (PL) season is long gone. Chelsea are now the reigning champions, as they won a title most will be looking to snatch away from their grasps when the next season starts.
While the world’s most-watched football league is currently on a break, moves are already being made – both by clubs, players and the league itself – to get ready for a new season.
PL football clubs have announced the players whose services they won’t be needing anymore. New arrivals have already started taking photographs with their new club jerseys as record fees are being smashed here and there.
In preparation for a new football season, the league, on Wednesday, released the fixture schedule for the 2017/2018 PL season. While the league has taken a back seat for the while, letting friendlies, qualifiers and the Confederations Cup to take centre stage, the release of the fixtures list has set mouths all over wagging, as expected.
The 17/18 season may not kick off until August 12, but word has gotten around. Fans the world over now know which opponent they’ll be facing first, and how tight or favourable their schedule is.
The anticipation had started. The countdown begins. While we’re counting down, we’ve cast our glance over the long list and are excited about some dates.
You know why? Those dates, ceteris paribus, will serve up some mouth-watering clashes.
It should not go without mention that every game in the Premier League is one to look out for: The mid-table teams will try to get one over the so-called “Top Six” (or Top Five or Four), while some top clubs will try to either go on a 10-game unbeaten run, play 19 at home, lose 0 times or conSIXtently draw their way through to Europe.
But, with the new influx of players, opposing coaches now used to themselves, these dates we’ve marked (which you should mark too), will see titans go head to head. And we can’t wait! Here are some of these exciting dates:
