Premier League Teams in FA Cup

If you ask any manager in the Premier League, they’ll probably not ask for more games for their lads. It’s been a very hectic season so far, with games sparsely spaced. But with the FA Cup set to enter the third round, most of them have no choice as their sides will be heavily involved, starting this weekend.

You can say it’s the cup season in English football, with FA Cup games set to follow hot on the heels of the EFL Cup semi-finals. Alongside Championship and League One sides, it’s go-big-or-go-home time for all the sides involved.

Which teams are there to look out for in the FA Cup games this weekend?

  1. Aston Villa

Jack Grealish and co. will welcome Liverpool in one of the first games of the third round. And the Villans couldn’t have asked for a better time to face the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently on a three-game run without a win. It’s a run that has seen them score just one goal in over 270 minutes of football. Having won only two of their last six games, Villa will be hoping Liverpool’s bad patch of form continues.

  1. Chelsea

Frank Lampard is one of the Premier League managers that’s currently on the hot seat.

Just like Liverpool, the Blues have failed to win any of their last three games. The FA Cup being one of the trophies that slipped through their hands last season, Chelsea will be looking to start their campaign this year like a house on fire. Watch out, Morecambe!

Middlesbrough have failed to defeat Brentford in their last four attempts.

  1. Arsenal

The Gunners, of late, have been in the news because of Mesut Ozil. Winning three games on the bounce after an unbeaten run of games has put them in the spotlight.

Having scored eight goals in their last three games, Arsenal are in a perfect place to face a Newcastle side that has failed to win any of its last six games. With Mikel Arteta’s men winning 14 of their last 17 games against the Toons, this one may just be a walk in the park for the current holders of the FA Cup.

  1. Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton is one of the sides that will play their FA Cup game away from home this weekend. Up against Newport County, they face a side that has a very good track record of eliminating Premier League sides from cup games.

Giant killers, as some folks call them, Newport County is like a banana peel for the big boys, although this will be their first competitive game since Boxing Day.

As the FA Cup continues, will the magic of the FA Cup serve up some surprising results? Drop your comments and join the conversation.
