This year’s Serie A title has already been won by Juventus.
The gap between first and second in the league is just difficult to close.
Just like the past few seasons, it’s Juventus against the rest of the league — the Old Lady has been too strong to handle.
In light of this, most of the remaining clubs have settled for a different fight in different segments of the table. For some, it’s the fight to avoid relegation. For some others, it’s a fight to finish in the top half of the table while others are fighting it out for a chance to make it into the top four.
Different strokes for different teams.
This weekend in the Serie A, some of these battles will intensify, specifically the battle for a top-four finish.
Two major games this weekend will determine, to a large extent, what the table will look like at the end of the season.
AS ROMA vs. Napoli
The Romans, despite changing their manager recently, have not enjoyed the best of forms. They have lost three of their last five games — one of the reasons why they’re currently placed sixth.
While they’re expanding their brand into the African market, another goal will be to finish top four. Every other club wants to play UCL football.
For Napoli, it’s about making sure of their second-place spot. They have easily been the second-best team in the league. And with this game, they can increase the gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

Inter vs. Lazio
This one is yet another contest between two other top-four contenders.
One is a side already in the top four. Another is one struggling to make it into the top four.
Inter Milan found new confidence after their win over AC Milan. That win propelled them into third after a bad run of form and they will be looking to maintain that position.

Lazio has not lost a Serie A game in over a month. But they are still sixth, which is good enough to qualify for the Europa League. However, they know that they can still qualify for Champions League football. And a win over Inter Milan would greatly help their bid.
They have won three of the last five and have not lost to Lazio since 2017.
