Super Sunday: The Reds or the Red Devils?

December 15, 2018 Leave a Comment
super sunday

super sundayFrom vantage point, it’s a league game between Liverpool in first place and Manchester United. To others, it’s just another football game to be played in the Premier League.

But it goes way beyond that.

Just like their nicknames imply, it’s going to be a super red hot Sunday when both sides clash. It’s more than just 3 points at stake for both sides in this PL fixture.

1. Liverpool’s unbeaten run

Over time, Jurgen Klopp’s men have been berated for not winning a title, despite all their glamorous display of football. This season, they have started out in the league like a team with a mission: out-do others and win the PL title.

They’re the only side yet to taste defeat this season in the league. While this kind of run comes with pressure, it comes with responsibility also. The Reds seem motivated, to an extent, to continue their Unbeaten run.

For instance, their unbeaten home run dates back to past last season. Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds this season and the one before it. Will the fortress hold when the Red Devils come visiting this Sunday?

2. Jose Mourinho

Say all you want about the man, but as a manager, he does not like to lose games. Furthermore, he does not like to lose against big teams. Manchester United’s current form (both home and away) is nothing to write home about. The time to climb up the table is now.

It is with games like these that the Red Devils can gain important points in their struggle for a top four finish. Jose Mourinho knows this. Jurgen Klopp’s knows this. And this is what makes this one complicated, for both sides.

3. It is still Liverpool v Manchester United

Over the years, the rivalry between both sides has been rife.

Sometimes, it is about the Premier League; the titles that have been won and which side is the most successful. At other times, it is about success in Europe, which side has done enough to win more European titles.

Expect the fans to try to get at each other in this game. Expect some real harsh tackles, some touchline drama and continued drama in the post-match conferences. It’s no ordinary game in the PL.

It’s the Reds versus the Red Devils. Three more points for Liverpool will not only help them secure their top spot. It will be another three points taken off a direct rival for a top four finish. A Manchester United will and Jose will go on and on about his managerial prowess.

So what’s it going to be? A Liverpool win or a Manchester United win? Leave us your comment and share your thoughts with us.
