It’s Round 2 of the Copa del Rey in Spain. And while some of the big names in La Liga won’t be in cup action in this week, the bulk of them will be seeking qualification to the third round of cup games.
For Barcelona and Real Madrid, this week will be all about their La Liga commitments as they prepare for their Super Cup clash against Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao respectively. We might as well have the first El Clasico of the year come sooner, rather than later.
Sticking with the Copa del Rey, a number of La Liga teams will be in action this week as they seek progression. For the La Liga 2 sides, they will be hoping the magic of cup games favor them, helping them to cause an upset against their opponents.
Atletico Madrid, with two games in hand, top the La Liga table. Having lost just once in the league, Diego Simeone’s men now switch their focus to UE Cornella, their opponents in the Copa del Rey. It’s a first meeting between both sides and with A. Madrid priced at 1.10 to win, there are no gifts or guessing which of these teams is favorite to win.

Villarreal is another La Liga side that will be in cup action this week as they travel to face Zamora. For this game, the Yellow Submarines will be looking to do better than their 0-6 win in the first round. Their opponents, however, will be hoping to take advantage of the fact that Villarreal have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four games.
Fresh off the back of the Great Derby, Sevilla and Real Betis will also be involved in the action this week. Lopetegui’s men will face Linares Deportivo while Real Betis travel to lock horns with Mutilvera.

Espanyol currently top the La Liga 2 table. Up next for them is Segunda B side, Burgos, a side that has only lost twice this season. This is yet another first time meeting to be witnessed in the Copa del Rey this week.
For a game between two opponents familiar with each other, Girona face familiar foe, CD Lugo. Five of the last five editions of this particular game has seen at least three goals scored. The red cards have also been a regular feature in this game.
