Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Sevilla, Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester City have all qualified for the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League. That’s after four games played.
That’s not to say this year’s edition of the competition has been so easy. For other sides, the journey continues this week as they seek to make it to the next round.
In the UCL this week, it’s a mix of teams trying to maintain their unbeaten run and others seeking survival. As you select games for your bet slip, here are some trends to consider:
-
Teams Still Trying to Qualify
In the fifth round of UEFA Champions League games, it’s all about winning the points needed for qualification. For a side like Liverpool, this will be their goal having missed out on qualification in the last round.
Their 0-2 home loss to Atalanta blew Group D wide open. While the Reds are on nine points, both Atalanta and Ajax now have seven points. All three sides will be desperately searching for a win this week to secure qualification.
Another team that will be looking to qualify for the knockout phase this week is Borussia Moenchengladbach. The Germans are the second-highest goal-scorers so far this season, scoring 14 goals. Unbeaten in their last four UEFA Champions League games, they take on Inter Milan next, a side still searching for its first UCL win this season.

The Clean Sheet Gang
The two goals Liverpool conceded in the fourth round were the first set of goals they’ve conceded so far. They have kept three clean sheets so far, despite their long list of injured players.
Chelsea and Manchester City are the other English teams that can also boast of three clean sheets in the UEFA Champions League this season. Since losing to Man. City, Porto have kept three clean sheets too, same as Borussia Dortmund.

The Corner-Kick Kings
Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid have taken the most corner kicks in the Champions League this season. Having played an average of 10 corner-kicks per game, they’re top in this group, closely followed by RB Salzburg.
Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona make up the top five of this category. If you’re looking to bet in the corners market, these are the sides you should look out for.

Teams Trying to Maintain Their Champions League Unbeaten Run
Of all the teams that have qualified for the next round so far, only Juventus have lost. Pep’s Citizens, the Bavarians, Lopetegui’s Sevilla, Frank’s Blues, and the Catalans are yet to taste defeat so far.
And they will be looking to maintain that run when they play mid-week football in front of empty stadiums this week.
