The group stage games are still on-going at the FIFA U-20 World Cup which started on the 5th of August.
Later this week, the competition will progress into the knockout phase. With only 16 teams taking part in the competition, the knockout phase of the competition will start straight from the quarter-finals.
But there’s one more round group stage games to be played. How are the teams setting up for this final round? Which teams have already qualified and which teams have it to fight for?
In Group A,
Host nation, France’s 0-0 draw with New Zealand meant that they could only muster 4 points from their opening two games. Instead of being top of the group, they’re second to Netherland, one of the joint-highest goal-scoring sides in the campaign so far.
The Dutch, with a 100% record, have only conceded one goal in the tourney so far. In their final game against France, a win or a draw will see them finish top of the group.

In Group B,
All four teams in this group are all still in contention to make it out of the group: England (4 points), Mexico (3 points) and Korea DPR (3 points) and Brazil (1 point).
Every final group game in this group is a final. Brazil’s qualification depends on a win in their game against Korea DPR. A win for Korea will see them fly to the top of the table and probably finish top.
England and Mexico will both be looking for a win. Anything short of that could see either team spiraling out of the competition as early as this week.

In Group C,
The situation is a bit more straightforward in this group. Table-toppers, Spain, with 6 points, take on USA, a team sitting second on the table, with 3 points and 6 goals scored in the final group game. The winner of this game will earn the right to finish top of the table.
In the other game of the group, Japan, a team that has only scored one and conceded just one goal will face a Paraguay side that has conceded 10 goals in their last two games.

In Group D,
The most important game in this group is the one between Nigeria and China. Germany currently top the group and will be looking to make 3 wins from 3 when they face Haiti, a team that has lost all of its games so far.
The Nigeria – China game is a winner-takes-all one. A draw will see Nigeria scale through no thanks to their superior goal difference.
