It’s the kind of week that every football fan enjoys. After the resumption of club action across various leagues in Europe this weekend, UEFA Champions League (UCL) action is set to dominate our television screens in the coming days.
It’s time for the third round of games in the group stages of the UCL. With most of the participating clubs – Monaco, both Manchester clubs, Barcelona, Napoli, amongst others – playing their league games on Friday/Saturday, the stage is set for the best of European football this week.
The many mixed results coming in over the weekend have raised some questions going into this week’s UCL games. Some of these questions are:
Will there be Another Goal Fest in Manchester This Week?
On Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City scored 7 goals in their game against Stoke City. While they also conceded two goals, Pep described the performance as “maybe the best performance since I arrived.”
The Cityzens face Napoli, who conquered AS Roma in their Italian Serie A game on Saturday. With both sides winning their Saturday games, the Manchester City vs. Napoli game is now one of the most anticipated games of this round.
Will There Be Upsets?
Yes, there was a big win for Manchester City over the weekend. PSG and Bayern Munich also recorded wins. But the same cannot be said of teams like Chelsea (lost to Crystal Palace), Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who all drew.
As we go into yet another week of UCL football, the questions that will be lingering in the minds of fans around the world are: Should we brace ourselves for more shocking results this week? Will the upsets spill over into the coming week?
Which Star Match Will Be the Most Exciting One?
No matter how much you love the beautiful game, it’s almost impossible to see them all. You’re either watching your favorite team play while you catch the highlights of the other games or your focus is fixed on the star game of that period.
Taking about star games, the UCL has got quite a number of them lined up for this week. Some of them include:
While not taking anything away from the other games, these three will have the attention of most football fans in the world. Of course the debate is already on. Which of these fixtures will end up being the most exciting one of the round?
