The second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 which started last week continues this week, with eight teams battling it out for the final four spots available in the quarter-final.
With big names like Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester City and Liverpool having qualified, fans have been making their own QF draws ahead of the draws that will be held on Friday. While we wait for Friday to come around, let’s take a look at the games to be played and how the teams stand after the 1st leg.
Manchester United vs. Sevilla
Considering the amount of saves David de Gea made in the first leg, it’s safe to say the Red Devils managed to escape defeat in the first leg.
Going into this second leg game without an away goal scored in the first makes things a bit dicey for Manchester United. Not only do they have to ensure that they keep the Spanish club side from scoring, they have to win the game outright or risk getting knocked out of the competition.
There’s not much history between the two clubs but the stats suggest that Manchester United’s home form in the Champions League has been solid so far – they’ve won all three games played at home, scored 7 goals and conceded just once.
Sevilla has scored in every UCL game they’ve played away from home this season.

AS Roma vs. Shakhtar Donetsk
The Ukrainian side take a 2-1 advantage into the second leg of a game that will be played inside the backyard of the Italians. Although the Italians got the first goal of the game in the 1st leg, they couldn’t hold on. Now, they have to make sure they defeat Donetsk with a two goal margin, at least.
This is very possible, considering the fact that Roma has not lost any game at home in the UCL this season. In three games played at home, they won two, drew one, scored four times and did not concede any goal. Donetsk, on the other hand, has scored an average of less than one goal in every away UCL game this season.

Barcelona vs. Chelsea
Chelsea FC put up a strong showing in the first leg of this game and will be looking to continue from where they stopped when they face Barcelona inside the Camp Nou stadium.
But how will they fare in a game against a side that has not lost any game this season? Add to that Barcelona’s scary UCL record this season and things become a bit harder for the Blues.
The Catalan giants gave scored 8 goals and conceded just once at home in the UCL this season. Chelsea has shown that they can hold their own away from home in the competition too, having scored six goals in three away UCL games this season.
They need a win to qualify. Will they get it?

Beşiktaş vs. Bayern Munich
To a large extent, there’s nothing to see here. The Turks lost the first leg by 5-0 and will now be playing the return leg at home, where they risk conceding even more goals.
Beşiktaş has not lost at home this season and they may be looking to use that as a boost in this game.
