The excitement is just beginning in the UEFA Champions League. All the games that have been played before now in this season’s edition of the competition were all appetizers, getting fans around the world ready for what is set to be an exciting climax to what has been an eventful season.
The past week featured the first leg of the quarter-final games in Europe’s elite football competition. Eight teams remain – at least for now – in the competition. Until the return legs of these encounters are played next week, all teams still stand a chance of making it through to the semi-finals.
That’s why we’re asking in today’s blog post: which four teams will make it through to the next stage of the UCL. Let’s take a look at how things stand in the four quarter-final games.
-
AS Roma vs. Barcelona
Hard as they tried to keep the Catalan giants at bay in the first leg, they ended up leaving the Nou Camp with a 4-1 deficit.
That they will be playing in front of their home crowd in the return leg is good news enough. But trying to pull a comeback from such a heavy first-leg defeat, against such a club as Barcelona, is almost impossible.
But then again, it is football…and anything can still happen, right?

Manchester City vs. Liverpool
The Citizens, like they have in the past, found life very difficult when they visited Anfield last week. The hang-over continued when they faced Manchester United in the derby as they lost the first game at the Etihad this season.
No doubt, Pep Guardiola’s men have what it takes to outscore the Reds on Tuesday. They showed that when they faced the Red Devils on Saturday. But it’s a tricky one for Manchester City. Should they concede a goal, Liverpool’s away goal, their already-hard task becomes even more daunting.

Real Madrid vs. Juventus
The Old Lady could not hold Cristiano Ronaldo and co. when they came visiting. They conceded three goals and it seems things may become even worse when they play at the Santiago Bernabeu.
They’re at an advantage because they can score as many “away goals” as possible. But, can they even score 3 goals?

Bayern Munich vs. Sevilla
The team from Spain couldn’t make the best use of their home advantage. Theirs, among the four games, is the tightest tie yet. Bayern carry a 2-1 lead into the second leg that’s to be played in Germany. It’s an opportunity for them to make the most use of their home advantage and knock the Spaniards out.
