It’s been a long time coming but it is finally here. Europe’s premier football club competition, the UEFA Champions League will resume this week.
Unlike the group stages last year, every game from now on is a final for teams involved. Starting this week, teams will compete for the chance to keep progressing towards the final and finally win the ‘big-eared’ trophy.

On Tuesday, Atletico Madrid will take on Liverpool. The reigning champions have to travel to Spain for the first leg of an encounter that is largely expected to be between a fierce attack and a system notorious for defending so well.
While Liverpool have put together an unbeaten run in the Premier League, Atleti’s recent form has been terrible. Diego Simeone’s men have lost four of their last seven games in all competitions. Having failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last 10 games in a competition, Atletico are very vulnerable going into this clash, with Liverpool being favorites.
In Tuesday’s other clash, Borussia Dortmund will welcome PSG to the Westfalenstadion. Although they have the second-highest scorer this season in their ranks, Erling Haaland, the German outfit will have to play without their teenage sensation as he is cup-tied.
While Dortmund scored and conceded the same amount of goals in their group stage campaign (8), PSG finished the group stages as the third-highest scoring side (17 goals scored) and the best defense (conceding just two goals).

On Wednesday, Atalanta will play in the UCL Round of 16 for the first time ever when they welcome Valencia. Boasting one of Europe’s most dangerous attacks, Atalanta will be hoping to take an advantage into the second leg by repeating in the UCL, their scoring form in the league.
Valencia’s poor away form may hurt them in this encounter as they have lost three of their last five away games in all competitions.
In the final UCL game for the week, Tottenham will welcome RB Leipzig to London. Having pulled off that win over Aston Villa, Spurs will be looking to win this game so as to maintain their momentum. It’s the first meeting between both sides as they look to progress to the quarter-final stages of the competition.
RB Leipzig have only won once in their last five away games.
