Since the World Cup began, there’s been a display of different categories of teams.
There are the sides that spend a huge portion of their games defending for their lives. The philosophy for these teams is simple: hold the fort for as long as possible and hit opponents on the counter.
Then there are other sides that have just attacked from the blast of the referee’s whistle. For these teams, attack is the best form of defense.
These different kinds of teams have contributed to what has been an amazing World Cup tournament so far. With no game yet to end without a goal, it’s been the ultimate tournament for spectators around the world.
Speaking of goals, a select number of players have stolen the spotlight with their goals. And as the tournament gets even tougher, we take a look at these players and the race for the FIFA 2018 World Cup Golden Boot.
-
Harry Kane (5 Goals)
The second player to score a hat-trick in the tournament so far, the Englishman seems to want to prove himself on a stage bigger than the Premier League. His three goals against Panama helped England to a 6-1 win over Panama to seal their qualification.
Being the captain of the side and with his style of play, the Tottenham striker is set to have even more playing time, increasing his chances of scoring more goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo (4 Goals)
Cristiano Ronaldo, against Iran, couldn’t continue his 2018 World Cup scoring streak – despite being awarded a penalty. But the Real Madrid talisman, having helped Portugal to qualify for the second round, will get yet another chance to increase his tally, against Uruguay.

Romelu Lukaku (4 Goals)
The Group G clash between Belgium and England will decide which team will finish top of the group. The Belgians are one of the highest goal-scoring sides in the competition with eight goals. And one man has helped them score half of that tally of goals.
Romelu Lukaku, unsurprisingly, is also near the top in the race for the Golden Boot. He may be a huge doubt for Belgium against England but with the Belgians already gaining qualification, he will get his chances in the knockout stages.
