Europe's top five leagues; betting preview

After UCL action resumed this week, the action continues across various centers in Europe as the title race heats up. The mid-season drama and the race to avoid relegation combine to make this weekend yet another one to enjoy all things football.

Of course, the focus will be on Europe’s top five leagues this season. If you’re looking to make some extra cash this week, let’s take a look at some of the games to look out for this weekend.

Premier League

Chelsea and Manchester City will not be in action this weekend as both clubs will be vying for the first title of the season. Of the eight games to be played this weekend, the biggest of them all has to be the clash at Old Trafford.

Liverpool’s title chase continues with Man. City hot on their tails. The Reds will have the chance to go three points clear of the Citizens. But they have to find a way past their age-long nemesis: Manchester United.

United are unbeaten in the PL under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Liverpool has not lost in their last seven.

La Liga

It remains to be seen how Real Madrid will fare against Levante after their loss to Girona. However, Sevilla versus Barcelona is the biggest game of MatchDay 25 in the Spanish La Liga. Barcelona, leading the table with 7 points, will be looking to put more daylight between themselves and Atletico Madrid.

It’s always a goal fest when these two sides meet.
Nine of the last 10 meetings between both sides have seen three or more goals scored.

Serie A

He may not be the league’s top goalscorer but AC Milan Krzystof Piatek (pronounced ‘Piontek), is arguably the buy of the winter transfer season in Italy. The striker has scored six goals in his last four games for Milan.

Piatek to score has been priced at  odds.

Fiorentina versus Inter is one game to look out for this weekend. The Mauro Icardi crisis continues but has not deterred Inter from their amazing run. Up against a Fiorentina side that’s on an eight-game unbeaten run, Inter can also boast of a four-game unbeaten run during which they’ve conceded just one goal.

Bundesliga

Dortmund was held to a goalless draw by Nurnberg this week. As a result, their lead at the top of the table dropped to three points. Their next game, against Bayer Leverkusen has now become one to win, to maintain that gap.

Borussia Dortmund is currently on a five-game winless run.
They’ve failed to score in their last two games.

Ligue 1

After sacking Henry, Monaco has gone four games undefeated across all competitions. They face a Lyon side that forced Barcelona to a goalless draw. Both sides have different motivations to win this game. For Lyon, a win will see them climb closer to Lille in second place. For Monaco, a win will help their upward movement on the table.
