Chelsea’s loss to Watford yesterday left them a good 19 points off the top of the table. Definitely there’ll be no Premier League title win this season. They’re still in the running for the FA Cup and the Champions League but it’s their Premier League form that is worrying.
The last time the Blues won a game in the Premier League was January 20th (they defeated Brighton 0-4). Since that game, they’ve conceded 7 goals in their last two Premier League games and have scored only once!
It’s no wonder that there have been rumors about Antonio Conte’s possible replacements. Although the Italian has been defiant in recent times, the loss at Vicarage Road on Monday points to one thing: Something is wrong with Chelsea. The question is what is it?
Is it the Chelsea Players?
In the last 6 games that Chelsea has played in all competitions, they’ve only managed two wins, kept two clean sheets, and have seen their players shown a red card three times during this period. Chelsea players have been shown a red card 4 times this season (a joint highest with…can you guess??? Watford!).
The bad performance by Chelsea in recent times may just be a direct result of the absence of players missing through suspension or injuries.
Up front, there’s not enough firepower. And maybe that’s why they’re not getting enough goals and are not winning as much as they should. What do you think?
Do you think they will lose again or do you think they will be able to bounce back and get a win?

Is it the Manager?
For all the noise being made about Chelsea’s Antonio Conte, the obvious remains a fact: He helped Chelsea to a Premier League title in his first season in England.
But all that is a distant memory now, especially with the recent results that his team has been producing. Yes, he has had to deal with injuries being suffered by some of the players but has he been managing them well? Do you think he has relied too much on some certain players?
What of his formation and style of play? He once complained about Chelsea’s inactivity in the transfer market. Do you think he has not been provided with the necessary players he needs? So…
Is it the Chelsea Board?
Conte may be the manager of Chelsea FC, but apparently the board controls which player stays and which player goes. And whatever they’re doing (or not doing) has frustrated Conte well enough to make him challenge the board in his post-match conference yesterday.
It’s hard to tell what the Chelsea board is up to but the fact that Conte has, in one way or the other, blamed them for the shortcomings of his team as a whole is proof enough that something is fishy. Is Chelsea’s own board hampering the progress of the club?
Are they the reason why a club once competing with Manchester United for second on the log has now slipped to fourth on the table? What do you think? Share your thoughts with us by leaving us a comment.
