On the 22nd of December, the first half of the Italian Serie A season came to an end.
AS Roma, Inter Milan and Atalanta were the biggest winners of that round, with the three teams scoring at least four goals.
With the winter break now over, all is set for the beginning of the second half of the football season in Italy. On the first Sunday and Monday of the year, all 20 teams in the league will lock horns for the 18th round of games in the league.
Which of these teams will win their first game of the new year?
1. AC Milan vs. Juventus
This is the match of the weekend, hands down.
Inter Milan, tied in first place with Juventus and leading the table by goals difference, take on eighth-place Napoli. For Inter, they boast the league’s best away form this season, winning seven of their eight away games.
Napoli have scored five goals in their first two games under new manager, Gennaro Gattuso. However, they’ve only won one of those two games, losing the other to Parma, both games ending with three or more goals being scored.
2. AS Roma vs. Torino
AS Roma are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, losing just once in their last 20 games in all competitions.
Scoring an average of two goals per game in their last five, they are one of the most prolific teams in the league at the moment.

Looking at the head-to-head record between both sides, nine of the last 10 games between both sides have recorded at least three goals. And all is set for the goal fest to continue in this encounter.
3. Juventus vs. Cagliari
SS Lazio is the only side to do the double over Juventus this season.
After defeating them 3-1 in the league, the Roman outfit defeated the Old Lady, by the same scoreline, in their Super Cup contest. As such, they’re the only sides to defeat Juventus this season.
The game against Cagliari is a great way to start the season for Juventus as they have defeated them in four of their last five meetings.
4. AC Milan vs. Sampdoria
AC Milan have only lost one of their last five games while Sampdoria have lost four of their last five in the league. After announcing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan now have a name they can rely on the bang in a couple of goals for them in the league.
For Sampdoria, they will be looking to take advantage of Milan’s not-so-impressive form in order to boost theirs.
As the new league season resumes in Italy, which team(s) are you looking to put your money on? Which of these teams will you add to your bet slip?
