Just last weekend, eight teams in total were in contention for the Super Bowl. They were all battling it out for a chance to feature in the Conference Championship finals. Four of them were from the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference respectively.
Fast-forward one week later, those eight games have been reduced to four. The number of games remaining to be played has also reduced to just four, including the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl.
February 3 is the date for the Super Bowl. But each conference must produce a representative. In each conference, two teams remain. And they will slug it out for a chance to be champions of their conference and to feature in the Super Bowl.
American Football Conference
Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots is a battle between two of the best sides from the AFC. Both teams topped their respective divisions in the regular season. While the Patriots lost five games in the regular season, the Chiefs lost just four.
Remember Kansas City Chiefs’ unbeaten run last year? That’s right. Patrick Mahomes and co. started their season with six wins on the bounce. Their seventh game was against Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.

Despite scoring 40 points in the game, the Chiefs lost to the Patriots. That was their third-highest scoring game of the regular season. It was also the highest scoring meeting between both sides. For the Eagles, this is their ninth straight appearance in the NFL play-offs.

National Football Conference
In the other “semi-final,” New Orleans Saints will take on Los Angeles Rams. Both sides finished the conference first and second respectively. And it’s time to put to battle it out for bragging rights in the championship.
Both sides won 13 games in the regular season and lost only three. They share a history that has been largely dominated by the New Orleans Saints. Both sides have met nine times. The Saints have won six times. Their most recent win over the Rams saw them score 45 points in an 80-point game.
