This Christmas season has been a season to be jolly and… a season to enjoy a lot of football. From Club World Cup, the top European football leagues and a lot more, December has been filled with football action.
But the action has not been limited to events on the pitch. Off the pitch, football has been getting ready for the next year of football with select draws being made this month.
1. UEFA Champions League
26 of the 32 teams that qualified for the playoff stages have been drawn against each other. The Round of 16 is set to kick off in February. And fans can be assured of plenty of fun with the fixtures that the draws produced.
French giants, PSG, will be taking on Manchester United. Manchester City face German side, Schalke 04. It’s still difficult to decide which one of Atletico Madrid or Juventus will win their Round of 16 tie because both sides thrive on great defense lines.
One of the most keenly contested games will be the clash between Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund. Both sides, bursting at the sides with talent, will be even poised for this clash. Another keenly contested game, or should we say, games, are the following:
- Lyon vs. Barcelona
- Ajax vs. Real Made
- Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich

2. Europa League
The draws for the next stage of the Europa League was a mixed one; mixed with teams from the Europa League and those who got eliminated from the UCL.
One of the most exciting games of the draws is the one between Lazio and Sevilla. The Spanish side have become serial winners of the tourney and will be looking to win this one yet again.

Rapid Vienna vs. Inter, Celtic vs. Valencia and Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Eintracht Frankfurt are just some of the major key games to look out for when the EL resumes next year.
3. EFL Cup Semi-final
Before this season of the Carabao Cup ends, we will witness yet another London derby. While Manchester City got drawn against Burton Albion, Chelsea and Tottenham got drawn against each other.
The first of these games will be played January 8/9. As for the London Blues, they will be desperate to get to the final and help Sarri win his first trophy as manager. For Spurs, they will want to end the eternal wait for a trophy.
Manchester City will want to hold on to the trophy they won earlier this year and Burton will be hoping to pull off surprises on their way to the final.
When all these games are played in 2019, which of these teams do you think will win their games? Leave us your comments and share your thoughts with us.
